A little person - who is inclined to recline. Not in any need of taming
I have withstood a good deal of teasing from friends about my interest in dead animals. I always protest that there is not a figurative artist alive (or dead for that matter) who does not need to study, and what better way than with a real creature ... who isn't moving.
This practice is part of a very long tradition, of which Stubbs and da Vinci are probably the most famous!
A shrew found in the hedgerow like this one is a very evocative model. The shrew holds a part of our culture in its name!
