SECOND NATURE

SECOND NATURE

2008

A split second caught in bronze, first inspired by swirls of leaves dancing outside the studio. A moment which lifts us and connects us with the possibility that nature is just as playful as our own second nature.

SECOND NATURE represents an early development in Sioban's leaf sculpture techniques. Only the largest leaves from the hedgerow were cast into wax and then cast individually into bronze. They were laid out and assembled, with structure and aesthetics vying for superiority. When the balance was achieved, the piece was welded together and tested out by the Elf and Safety team at Chichester Cathedral before the sculpture made its debut in an exhibition in the cloisters there, known as 'Paradise.'

SECOND NATURE is hoping to find a new home, on display in the beautiful indoor gardens of ARCHITECTURAL PLANTS
