... a lark in the naked wet woods ...
Drawn from a flamboyant Beech found in the Woods behind the old studio ... although slightly embellished on the etching plate ... it is a fair portrait of the tree I met.
First drawn directly on to copper plate; then 'bitten'; 're-ground' with leaves pressed into the ground; 'bitten' again and finally printed. Always printed with black ink first, the coloured prints are then made by adding coloured inks successively until ready to print. This is called the 'a la poupee' technique.
Both coloured and black and white prints are available from the edition.
